What to do with a Stoop

Well, you've all seen it...
It is an eyesore, a fall hazard, and a disaster. The quick fix we had in mind turned out to not be so quick, and we discovered that we needed more materials than we originally thought (like the concrete) and that some of the materials we bought either we didn't use properly, or it wasn't what we needed for the job (like the mortar).

So on to Plan B:
I got this image of off Google, and it isn't exactly what we have in mind. We hope to keep the stone steps going down the side of the house, but will be replacing everything else (possibly including the stone landing) with a wooden deck, similar in size to the one above. Andy Mast is coming this evening to give us an estimate. We already bought some lumber, so hopefully, he will be able to use all of it.

We are really looking forward to having that project checked off the list. I am crossing my fingers, hoping Andy can finish the whole thing before the vacation.

The "Short" List.

I think we have ten short lists. Here's one of them.

1. Flooding back yard.
2. Scrape and Paint Car-port.
3. Finish water-proofing basement.
4. Finish Stoop Work.
5. Put nails in wooden gate at edge of woods.
6. Wipe out the wysteria in the garden.
7. Weed the strawberry patch.
8. Haul away driveway trash.
9. Take carpet to Houston Office / Houston Office carpet to Salem Office.
10. Take family's card table and chairs home.

Welcome

In case you're wondering. . .

Halls Village currently consists of three houses clustered near Highway 119 near Montauk State Park as well as a building in Salem Missouri and another house in Houston, Missouri.

There is some speculation that a house in St. James will soon be added to the list.

The point is not so much which houses, buildings, properties, etc., are part of the Village, but that every such house, building, property, etc. seems to have tons and tons of stuff that needs to be done to it to make it nicer, or keep it nice, or what have you.

For instance, the J&T house has a backyard that floods.

So, the idea is to post pictures and ideas and lists for projects that need to be done, and to make arrangements to do them.

That's all for now.
